I have something to admit: I haven't read a book since July. To someone who has been reading constantly since the age of three, this realization was equivalent of a stick of dynamite being dropped on my house.
The truth is, I've been really, really busy. A lame excuse, I know. But being a junior in high school, my responsibilities have increased. I've thrown myself into dance, nearly failed math (twice!), doubled up in art classes, started writing my own original screenplay, traveled to Spain, shot two fashion spreads for an online magazine (I even modeled in one!), started a street-style/fashion blog for my school with two of my closest friends, made my first stop-motion film, and somehow managed to pull off decent grades in between.
Does this huge new addition of craziness into my life mean that I am deleting my blog and clearing my bookshelves? Hell, no. This blog has been a huge part of my life for the past four years (which, believe me, is a long time when you're only sixteen). I started Bookworm Readers when I was in sixth grade; a chubby, glasses-wearing, braced-out geek who just needed an outlet to gush about a closeted love for books. However, It's safe to say that I've learned a lot during my blogging hiatus, and hopefully I can take that new inspiration and put it into Bookworm Readers!
So I feel like now, at the end of one year and the dawn of another, is a good time to look forward in the most positive way possible. This year, I'm not going to agonize over the amount of reviews I get out, or the number of books I read, or how much time I spend per week updating my blog or surfing about the blogosphere and feeling bad for just not doing enough. Therefore, my number-one goal--which applies to both reading/blogging and everything else in life--is to live in the moment and enjoy myself! Obviously, I want to read more and be a more active blogger this year as well.
I look forward to 2012 (which will mark the 5th birthday of Bookworm Readers!) as being a productive and fun year! Thank you to everyone who has been reading Bookworm Readers, I appreciate your patience and support...Look for more reviews, interviews, contests, and new-and-improved features coming soon!
Best always,
Bookworm
